The social model reflects society’s attitudes to disabled people; discrimination is created by people and not the disability itself. This model focuses on the individual person not the disability and focuses on what needs to be done so the person can achieve their potential and have a fulfilling life. The social model has been constructed by disabled people themselves and it expresses the barriers they meet. The problem is society and the environment, people’s attitudes can change and barriers can be resolved to make the lives of disabled people easier and also for society to more accepting and considerate.
