In this poem, I think the subject in that poem called’ Disabled is the title that represent the theme of pity because the poem have include everything about pity things during the war, before the war and how was the people in war. The writer wrote an example of a man in the poem that in war before and loss his legs and one arm in the war. The writer talks what happen was ‘he‘ when after war and before war. At start, the writer trying to say what he depress and dark off, “he sat in a wheeled chair waiting for dark “mean he was after war and lost his arm and legs, about waiting for dark it might be meaning for die or waiting for night and sleep because he could forget how painful ‘he’ was ‘till gathering sleep had mothered them from him” this …show more content…
In stanza four the writer wrote “after football, he drunk a peg” ‘he’ was in a football game and got dunk, I think because of this made ‘him’ have an easy going thought. “Someone had said ‘he’ “look a god in kilts” there is somebody told ‘him’ that ‘he’ look god when ‘he’ was in a kilts. And before ‘he’ was ”Carried should-high” Have very good confidences. This let him think “that’s why; and maybe, too, to please his Meg” the writer wrote this, I think because want to say ‘his’ mind was still a bit dizzy and ‘he’ went to his Meg. And that it and please to the giddily jilts. ‘He’ did not have to beg. In stanza five the writer wrote “smiling they wrote his lie; all their guilt and Austria’s did not move him “to let reader know so they will know clearly how they felt more pity to the solider In this sentence I know about three things. One; I think why don’t ‘he; thinks about the problem at first and going will that silly reason. Two; The writer mansion ‘All their guilt “The German wrote ‘him’ is nineteen years old but ‘he’ is not even that old when the Austria’s saw it they did not move right away ‘him’ instead of smiling and wrote ‘his’ lie how pity is that. Three; in stanza four ”he did not have to beg” This is how evil the army’s were, how cruel the realists was and pity the soldiers were. I think the quotes upwards can be seen that the writer think it is not a good decision for ‘him’. “No fear of fear came yet” After he joined the army, he did not think any problem with not afraid feelings “’he’ thought of jelled hilts, for daggers in plaid sock; of smart salutes” ‘he’ was just thinking how the image he will be. After he got those but they haven’t really noticed how the war will be. ‘He’ was drafted out with drums and cheers.’ And every soon he was sent to the war with drums and cheers again, but they

The war seems kind of mistaken to him. Its causes and effects undefined. Before his draft notice arrived, Tim had taken a stand against the war in the form of campaigning for the presidential campaign of anti-war activist Eugene McCarthy and writing college newsprint perspectives against the war. The day of receiving the notice to fight, he thought he was good to go fight in the war. His community keeps…

for example the poem says “With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children/England mourns for her dead across the sea./Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,/Fallen in the cause of the free.” this is a perfect example of how the soldier lost a lot. her mother now mourns for her dead son. this is what a soldier loses after death the happiness of the loved one. A second example is when the poem says “They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;/They sit no more at familiar tables of home;/They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;/They sleep beyond England's foam.”…

Technology is such a big part of our lives that we often forget that there is more than one way to remember the past or any event for that matter. When we see a picture for example, we are immediately taken back to that moment. Right in front of us we have the surroundings, the people, or even the things that were there the day it was taken. Although we do not realize it, when we read a poem there is a very similar effect. If we close our eyes we can can see the picture that the poet is trying to paint with the imagery that is hidden behind every line.…

Literature makes human beings different than other creatures. As one of the most important forms of literature, poetry helps people to express their inner feelings and takes readers to a wider world. Therefore, having a better understanding of poetry can help people to think questions in more diverse ways. This poetry explication will take the poem “The Girl Who Loved the Sky”, wrote by Anita Endrezze in year 1992 as an example to discover the magic of poetries. This poem describes a precious friendship between two girls—one who has no father, the other one is blind.…

    The Victims Poem Analysis

Upon initial reading, “The Victims” by Sharon Olds seems to be a poem that paints the picture of a life of abuse; starting from the dawning of the exploitation and arching over into the life of the abused following the maltreatment. In the work, it is made to be believed that the clear victims of the poem are the speaker and their family—which is a rightful and obvious assumption—but there is another victim that is not as prevalent as that of the speaker and their family: the speaker’s father. After a second read, it is made evidently apparent that although the work does focus on the speaker and their family as the victims of the poem, the ideal that the father is also a victim is explored. Since the father is depicted as an abuser, it is seen…

The function of imagery in Ted Kooser’s “Tattoo” Ted Kooser’s poem “Tattoo” can be interpreted in a multitude of ways. One way to interpret this poem is that the tattoo is used as imagery to explain how old men are constantly trying to re live his youth; the way he did when he was young. It is apparent in this poem, but this is not the main issue the speaker is addressing. The issue the speaker describes is how time changes a person. Another way this poem can be read is that tattoos can tell a personal story.…

But in reality, their youth was being wasted on the cold, dull battlefield. Their dreams were forgotten and all that left of them were futility. Moreover, the words, such as ‘stare’, ‘dazed’, ‘drowse’, and ‘dozed’, slows down the poem enabling the readers to empathise futility that the soldiers feel. Furthermore, the use of half rhyme gives a sense of dissatisfaction to readers.…

The poet wrote this to try to make people think about the government’s actions before they take advantage of the lies that they read on the streets. Although it is seen as something that is heroic for people to fight for their country, they get no appreciation afterwards, because they are dead and they cannot be returned to their living state that they were before the war, and even if they do survive, they will not be able to get past what they have seen at war. The mood in this poem is heartbreaking and reveals what PTSD is like, it displays how the people who have actually fought in the war feel when they see the propaganda posters and what they are forced to forever think about if they…

Mutterings Over the Crib of a Deaf Child Published in 1957, James Wright’s poem “Mutterings Over the Crib of a Deaf Child” describes the array of emotions that the parents of a deaf child have as they ponder what kind of life and possible future that the child will have. In this essay I intend to discuss the fear, worry, hope, optimism and concern that the parents are feeling about their baby’s future. The title is slightly ironic in the sense that it doesn’t matter how loud or soft that the parents talk over the crib, as the child is deaf. The first stanza emphasizes their initial concern for their baby:…

    The Wanderer Analysis

“The Wanderer”: A Literary Analysis “The Wanderer,” a short poem written during the Anglo-Saxon period, is an elegy regarding a warrior whose lord, friends, and land have been destroyed by war. Many elements of the poem bring its sorrowful message to life, such as the perspective it is told in, its elegiac tone common to the poetry of the time, its eloquent, descriptive diction, and, although not necessarily mournful, a transition into something more of a wisdom poem. Most of these qualities exemplify the style of writing found in various works of the Anglo-Saxon era. First of all, the poet made the choice of expressing experiences and thoughts through the main character from a first person point-of-view, as is common among several Anglo-Saxon poems. This choice works quite well for the poem due to the fact that it allows the reader to connect with the speaker on a more personal level.…
