Victor and Sadie see Dirty joe as a drunk old man who doesn’t do anything but drink and fight. Victor explains that Dirty Joe “Got his name because he cruised the taverns at closing time, drank all the half-empties and never cared who might have left him there.” (p.54). They put him on the roller coaster and think it's humorous because he's a drunk, not because he's an Indian. On the other hand, the white people think that he's just some dumb Indian and that it's entertaining to watch him get thrown around by a roller coaster.
