If asked, most people would describe getting a ticket as, for instance a speed ticket; a ticket you got for driving too fast. Tickets are given to us by our higher authorities if we do not follow the law. However, for Toby Heckler, that is not the case.
Toby is a socially handicapped male, with a rather childish appearance. (Page 37, ‘’On the yellow paper Toby had printed in red ink ‘PRAKING MISTEAK’ and signed his name ‘TOBY’ in a childish-looking hand.’’) The fact that he signs the paper slips he hands out, and that he’s poor at spelling make him seem fairly young, since it’s something a smaller child would find amusing. Toby tends to avoid her, and isn’t able to communicate with her at all – not even the slips he writes for her reach her. (Page 38, ‘’Toby pulled out a shoebox. He states everything as wrong, bigger as smaller incidents, which shows us, that everything in Toby’s life is in fact wrong - so he attempts to make our society better. He simply has no control over his own life. His only way of handling his own problems is by keeping his sneakers clean, he’s always feeling more confident at times they’re spanking white.
