Diplopia Research Paper

Diplopia After my patient had been struggling to see normally for four days and was now seeing two cars in front of him instead of one when he was driving, he decided it was time to come to the hospital. Doctors decided he was suffering from what is called diplopia. Diplopia is when you see two separate images of one single object. While double vision is a diagnosis on its own, it could also be a symptom of a more serious underlying disease (Double Vision). Doctors are looking into whether or not my patient has an underlying illness called esotropia, which is when the eye squints and turns inward, that may be causing the double vision. Diplopia occurs when the brain cannot combine images from each eye into a single image or cataracts can even cause one to see double (Diplopia).

While driving, he began to see two cars when there was only one present. The patient also had a history of a cataract, and doctors are now thinking he may have an underlying condition, esotropia. It was ordered for my patient to wear an eye patch on his right eye to try to strengthen his left eye but he was not compliant with the order. Other treatment has not yet been decided. The patient’s labs were within normal limits except for his hemoglobin and sodium, which was low, and his creatinine, glucose, and prothrombin time which was high. I had all normal findings during the patient’s physical assessment, and he denied any double vision at that time. I also performed a neuro check in which he scored zero, and those were being done to rule out the possibility of a stroke.
