School shooters do not fit a common “cookie cutter” mold. Shooters are quite different in their motives and experiences. One hundred forty seven school shootings have taken place since the Sandy Hook attack where one boy shot twenty-seven people to death in an elementary school. 270 school shootings since the 1999 Columbine attack when two boys shot thirteen people in school. It is still a mystery as to how shooters keep sneaking under the nose of the public. School shootings, like Columbine, Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook happen for three significant reasons: hidden mental issues, accessibility and negligence of weapons, and ineffective safety procedures. The public should understand that every school shooter and their motives are not the same. Most shooters get their guns from someone else very veiw purchase them themselves. That was how Dylan and Eric got their four guns, they got them from a close friend and previous girlfriend of Dylan, her name is Anderson and she received them from someone else to get around them being underage(“Where’d They Get”). The two boys purchased all four guns for five hundred dollars. One shooter that was able to purchase his own guns and get around the background check was Seung-Hui Cho who bought his from an online gun store, and due to the lack luster of a background check he was able to buy one and two months later another gun without difficulty(“Virginia Tech Shooting”). The shooters that seem the most dangerous are the ones that have the Guns at their fingertips.
