Technology is affecting our relationships with our significant other. If you have one, you need to communicate with your partner, and find out if you both want to text all of the time, and just make sure that you are on the same page as each other. “Constant cellular contact may disguise a lack of in-person communication.” (MacMillan). You should never have serious conversations, or argue over text messages. Most of the times, women are very satisfied with more texting, but men feel the opposite. Studies say that guys usually text more when they are not happy and want to break up. It is usually best to just wait to argue, and apologize in person. Face to face communication is always better in relationships. Technology also seems to be affecting our friendships. A couple of text messages is not anywhere close to the equivalent of chatting with a friend. I can confidently say that technology is affecting human interactions in many ways. We are having a harder time keeping up friendships and relationships. We are also struggling when it comes to technology in schools. One time when I was out eating with some friends, and I was on my phone, as the rest of them were. Yet, for one split second, I had this idea to simply look up. What I saw was an absolute nightmare. The rest of my group were staring blankly at screens, as if they were zombies. All I could think of is what difference it would make if we didn’t have these devices to restrict us. After doing my research, I came to the final decision that things need to change. My colleagues and I have all been affected by this, and continue to every day. I have both a cell phone and a chromebook, and I am on both of them every day for the majority of the day. In reality, there is nothing I can do for others, except for raise awareness. This is something that a person needs to change themselves, and you can not expect change to come without action. I think that schools could lessen how much we use our technology. I also think that we could reach out to parents to show them how much of an impact this actually makes on people for the rest of their lives.
