Camera phones will never replace the digital SLR because of that large amount of capabilities a photographer has with this product. Many people like to use smart phones to take pictures because of the easy-to-use touch screen with stress-free controls, but the physical controls on a DSLR are what makes photographs art (Sullivan, 2014). Because of the fact that a smart phone is not solely a camera, the phone lacks a lot of features a DSLR can provide to take impressive and artistic photographs. Event photographers will never replace their DSLR with a smart phone because of battery life and memory space (Goldman, 2012). A DSLR has the ability to replace memory cards and batteries when needed, while a phone needs to be “dumped” down to a computer or plugged in to charge. The storage capabilities in a memory card for a DSLR is much larger than a smart phone’s memory storage.
