For me I like photography because it puts the world into a different perspective. Photography has made me more aware. I’ve discovered how to use my eyes. I love it when I am shooting an image and the magic moment presents itself. I imagine myself as a hunter, searching for the perfect light and angle that makes the photograph come together. I'm always searching for the perfect picture. From the little things that would be good macro shots, to the people that would make nice portraits, or to the landscapes when the sun is just right. For example, I had taken a photo on the beach in the winter. The sand was blowing up the frozen sand. I got really close to the ground and the picture turned out amazing. I am generally new to photography but am hungry for more exposure. In my digital photo class we learned about the basic mechanics of photo making: ISO, aperture and shutter speed. I particularly enjoyed learning techniques for creating a harmonious composition. Ansel Adams said, “You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” It means you have to work to get that photo. You have to spent time learning the craft and learning your gear. You have to spent time watching and seeing things differently and using that to create, make, that perfect photo. Just as I enjoyed learning composition, I was eager to master Photoshop because of all the exciting possibilities it provides. Outside of class, I also take as many opportunities as I can to experience what it's like to be a photographer. I have volunteered to photograph formal events for my school. Doing that taught me about what it is like and gave me real world experience as a photographer. You have to deal with lighting changes and movement. It was hard at first but I got a hang of it and the photos turned out great. I have learned the basics and receiving this scholarship would help me further my knowledge and help me pursue my career in

With this project I didn’t feel particularly inspired at this beginning. Forcing myself to just keep shooting, for hours and hours, the same subjects, really pushed me to start directing my camera at scenes and lighting conditions I wouldn’t have thought to shoot before. I think a lot can be learned from when you think you've seen an object, person or place in every way you possibly can and then somehow keep making new photos of it. Really compelling and refreshing work can come out of boredom. When I found myself getting uninterested or feeling like a subject was getting repetitive those were the times where I found myself actually being genuinely, and novelly, creative.…

My goal throughout my whole childhood was to receive a full ride scholarship to the college of my dreams; however, as time has gone on and I have matured I have come to the realization that, that dream is not as achievable as I once believed it to be. I have worked hard, inside and outside of the classroom, making the grades and creating the resume that colleges are looking for, and in response I have been offered tuition waivers. Which ultimately means I am still responsible for paying for my books, room and board, part of the tuition cost, and mandatory fees.…
