This phenomenal technology cloud computing has expeditiously evolved in the field of Information Technology. Cloud Service Providers (CPS) have brought diverse transformation changes in cloud computing. This technology has formed new opportunities /haven for criminal activities. The paper has used a descriptive literature review to determine issues that are at present affecting digital investigations. There are several issues that influence the preservation, acquisition and data acquisition of evidence in the cloud environment. Minimal research has been conducted to fix the problems.

It is essential to provide a brief overview of the evolution IT services from that of a single-tenant to a multi-tenant model. For it is in this evolution that can be found the genesis of the challenges facing digital forensics due to the fact that forensics procedures and standards have been developed to apply to a physical (single-tenant) rather than a virtual (multi-tenant) IT service-provision environment.
Ultimately, the provision of IT services requires elements of data storage, data exchange and transfer (data in motion), for the purposes of execution (data neither at rest nor in motion).
