Difficulty In 'Eveline And A Rose For Emily'

By reading the short stories “The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin, “Eveline” by Janes Joyce and “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkner there is a common psychological difficulty the three-woman face: the difficulty of being controlled by a man in their lives has been the worst situation they have faced. On the second story, “Eveline” by Janes Joyce there was a huge impact on Eveline when her dad started to take control of her life after her mom died. Everything started there the fear of her being controlled by her dad from now on. The father used to be playful when she and her brothers where little. Now that her mom is not present, she feels in danger to be around her dad because she is the only girl from the family. Man is the main cause of women depressions because most man wants women to follow their rules and do everything they ask for. In the short story, “A Rose for Emily” Emily’s dad used to control her love life of not letting any man date her. “We remembered all the young men her father had driven away, and we knew that with nothing left, she would have to cling to that which had robbed her, as people will” ( Faulkner 3). Emily’s dad just took everything to an extreme point of putting chains on her; no one was good enough for Emily to the point of making her psychosis. Emily’s father did not let her experience what it felt like to be in a relationship, so she got old and could not decide whom she wanted to marry to have a family. She made the wrong decision for falling in love with the first man who caught her eye, and everything went wrong so she ended up killing the guy she liked thanks to her dad’s manipulated
