I watched the video, Differentiating in Math using computer games. I found myself relating to the immediate feedback response time and it seemed so much easier to get the immediate feedback from the computer verses having to wait for the teacher to give students the feedback they need. My students would sometimes become impatient waiting for me to give them feedback which led to lose interest. I resorted to having the students that I gave feedback to go around and help the ones who where waiting. I didn’t necessarily like this approach because I wasn’t able to effectively formally assess all students and I found myself giving more of my attention to the ones who were struggling the most in a small group.
I also liked that the program gave an overall introductory lesson to the entire class with Planet Turtle, then proceeded to individualized lessons to the student’s own level.
