Differentiated Lesson Design: Personal Narrative Technique

Differentiated Lesson Design: Every week I would come up with a lesson plan that I believed would benefit Azlynn. I wanted the lesson to be based around what I thought she needed to work on the most. Each week we mainly rehearsed the same techniques. Before learning a new technique we needed to understand the one before. I would always model the correct usage of the technique and then we would practice it together. Once I felt like she was ready she would use the technique on her own and I would be there to correct her when needed. I got to learned what techniques would benefit her the most and grew from there developing new ideas on how to practice what she needed to work on.

Prior Experiences, Multiple Intelligences, Strengths, and Needs: The first few times we got together I would pick out her strengths and needs. I had a list of the things we needed to work on and those are the things we focused on most. One of the most important things that Azlynn needed was to feel confident in her reading. She told me that she didn't believe that she was a good reader on our first session. It was important for me to make her feel confident because this is what I desperately

She loved when I told her how well she was improving and showing her but it wasn't like she asked about it on her on. She would however ask to take home more than one book and would come back each session and tell me that she read them to someone in her family, in her words, “a billion times.” This would be the first thing she would say to me each time we would meet. She would tell me she has been practicing her sight words or practicing saying blank. I left her with many different techniques that she can use when reading and I am sure she will use these in her reading to become an even better reading. I believe she will keep improving because she is willing and wants to learn. She has a lot of motivation to do

Vanessa Junior has been passionate about language arts since the age of 6. She continues to show strength in that area. How I would help her in this area is that I would talk to Vanessa Junior as a baby, read to her, and bring her to different social occasions so people could interact with her. My observation is that she continues to do well in language arts because of the activities I do with her to improve her literacy skills. Vanessa Junior has had an interest in science since being a little girl.…

My classroom procedures are very clear, which the class has become familiar with over the semester. Students are to come in from their special class and grab their materials and go sit on the carpet and get ready for math to begin. These are expectations that should be memorized by now. Many of them do this and it contributes to the flow of the classroom and the engagement level of the entire groups. Students are expected to pay attention to the speaker during the mini-lesson by facing their way and not playing with any other items.…

The first strategy that Miss Jones can use is the interactive read aloud. According to Freeman and Freeman (2006) “effective teachers read aloud to their students every day whether they are kindergarten teachers or high school teachers” (p. 132). When teachers are reading aloud they model the process of reading to the English Language Learners on how to read in English from left-to-right and up and down. If Miss Jones read aloud to her students, it will give her new student the opportunity to gain reading fluency and comprehension skills. During the read aloud Miss Jones can do frequent pauses for her ELLs and break the text down into parts to check for students understanding throughout the text reading.…

I was born in 1984 and started school in 1989. Watching the movie The Bottom Line in Education 1980 to the Present, gave me a perspective of the Education system while I was growing up. I didn’t realize what my teachers and educators were subjected to. As a child I was very naive, which is what I was supposed to be. I never thought that my school was overcrowded or operating below any standards.…

I do not plan on transferring as most of my friends have, but I will to push myself to be proud of my decision I have made to stay at BC. I have gained, experience, knowledge, lost, and understand most things that I have been exposed to in my twenty years of life. One goal I have is pass the GKE (General Knowledge Exam). Oral language development refers to the process and stages a child will go through while learning to communicate through spoken words. This process occurs over many years and varies from child to child. Oral language skills begin to develop in babies as they listen to the people around them speak and eventually the child will begin to use language on their own. How quickly a child’s vocabulary grows is greatly influenced by how much the parents talk to their child; however sometimes other factors can be involved such as a mental or a learning disability. It was a cold, winter morning. The frigid air blew as I turned to pull the handle on the door to the main building of my small high school. After entering the doorway, I dragged my feet across the floor and trudged through the empty hallway. As I peeked through each of the door windows, I saw nothing but dark, empty classrooms. It was not until I looked up that I noticed one lit room at the end of the hall.…

Azlynn did exceptionally well at staying focus and on task throughout our weeks together. She was very shy at first and it took some time in her opening up to me. On the first day together I shared about myself so that she could get to know me better as a person. Once I did that and with each day we were together she opened up more and more. Once she got comfortable enough she liked to talk about what she was going to do after school that day and after every few sentences of reading I would have to ask her to stay focused and get back on track.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

I completed my ten-hour class observation at the private school Georgia Military Prep. The Georgia Military Prep School is located on Georgia Military College’s main campus in Milledgeville. At GMC prep I observed Ms. Jennifer Spencer's advanced eighth grade math class. Ms. Spencer has a decidedly pleasant air about her, a quick smile, and a brisk step that belies her ‘let us get the job done’ type attitude. On my first day observing her class, I soon gathered that Ms. Spencer always has a goal in mind when she sets foot in the classroom.…
