Reading And Writing Class Analysis

Made it through another semester This semester I learned that some of us read and write more then we think we on a daily basis. There are different ways of reading and writing outside of the classroom. After we did the reading and writing journals earlier this semester I noticed that I read more then I write in my free time and for class, like text, social media, ESPN updates, books, and flyers. Before this class I didn’t really think text, or updating my social media count as reading and writing. Just like in the article” Coaches Can Read Too” by Sean Branick. This article was talking about how hard it was to be a coach, have to make play books, know they players and how good enough they are to put in the game, how to talk to some players, …show more content…
Before I would just type a paper and get my thoughts out. Then have a peer look over it and edited it, and fix then turn it in. I didn’t think to proof read or read my paper out loud to myself until read “ The Maker’s Eye: Revising Your own Manuscripts” by Donald M. Murray. This was one of my favorite articles that we read. Murry said “The writer must learn to be their own best enemy. They must accept the criticism of others and be suspicious of it; they must accept the praise of others and be even suspicious of it”. That stuck with me the whole course, I was sacred to let other students peer edit my paper. I would think back to this quote and reread may paper before we did peer read. I learn it’s good to get other thoughts and opinion Murray also said all criticism is good …show more content…
One of my biggest victory this semester asking for help, getting help, and my essay four. Because I took my time with that essay and had three people look over it and got they thoughts, opinion about it. I was proud and felt like that was my best essay that I turn in this semester. The hardest task for me this semester was the interview essay. because my interviews was taking long to reply back to my emails, so I had to make a last minute call to my high school and interview somebody that was in my minor and not my major. I personally think if we were told like two more weeks ahead from the date it was given, I would have gotten my interview. My paper would have been better, for some people it’s not easy finding somebody in they

Some view writing as a long process including many steps while others believe only one draft is necessary; some spend hours rewriting and editing their papers while others spend the least amount of time possible. Many might wonder which method of writing is the most effective. The Maker’s Eye, written by Donald M. Murry, argues for the importance of applying the rewriting process to all papers. He states the contrast between professional and beginner writers as the amount of rewriting professional’s do verses the amateur’s one draft. The author suggests that to become a better writer, one must improve their rewriting skills which include reading your own work, learning to accept both criticism and praise, and viewing your paper from the reader’s…

Writing Peer Reviews Involves Responding directly to the writer’s note implies being the kind of reader the writer needs. Thus enabling the reader and the writer to view the piece they are handling in different sincere perspectives. Glossing for Revision, this technique involves the reader reading very carefully through the piece and glossing each and every paragraph. Taking note of the author’s notes equips the readers with the contexts they need to be conversant with the response that is needed (Moore & Cassel,…

Writing, no matter the subject, timeline, or form, involves a process of some sorts. The writing process can differ in the steps, methods, and style. Some authors may prefer to revise as they write while others prefer to write a draft and edit a final version. Also, other writers may choose to write an outline and while others may choose to organize their thoughts with a picture. Donald M. Murry’s “The Maker’s Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscript,” Peter Elbow’s “Desperation Writing,” and Kurt Vonnegut’s…

Reflection on my class devotion: Regarding the reflections from colleagues, on “Becca and Carmanie’s”, devotion, it is very encouraging to hear good comments, though seriously, I believe I did not do a good job with it. While Becca and were deciding which scripture text to choose for the class devotion, it was very challenging for us to choose a text that made connection to my story and the hospital visit as a group. I literally told Becca that “we should make a theological intersection and not a tangent !” We prayed and asked God to guide us, to help us see and build the connection.…

In article “So you’ve got a Writing Assignment” Corrine Hinton said “When getting a writing assignment, you should read it more than once just to get knowledge of what they are really asking for”. Hinton claims that it is really important that people carefully read their assignment again and again to understand it properly because when people don’t know the purpose of writing assignment exactly then it is really hard to write well. Again I argue that reading is the back bone of writing. I was not a good reader so I was doing mistake that i did not read my writing assignment properly and at the end I failed and it irritates me because I worked hard…

College Prep Writing Advanced is the hardest class I have ever taken. I learned a lot over the course of this class, and I believe that my approach to writing has changed. I have learned that while writing it is easy to underthink, but it is easier to overthink. I also learned you cannot wait until the last minute to revise and edit essays. The first paper we wrote was the personal essay.…

While peer editing, I have learned that everyone writes different and has his or her own styles and techniques. No two people have the same minds, so it makes sense that each writer is unique. When I correct other people’s papers, I learn from their mistakes. If I find something that needs to be corrected, I occasionally realize that I am guilty of doing the same thing. Peer editing helps me break my bad habits and form better ones.…

The most crucial step of my writing processes is letting my mind go wild and my fingers move freely. Whenever I write anything, I always let myself write whatever is on my mind at that exact second. Even if it doesn’t make 100% sense or isn’t exactly on topic, I’ll type it out. When I was writing my essay, I didn’t stop to fix anything until the very end. When I finished writing, I looked for mistakes.…

With every new class I have ever taken, came new experiences, new knowledge, and self improvement. Which have all made me into a better student and molded me as a person. Not all classes do this to every student it consist of the student’s willingness to learn, and the teacher’s interest in their students learning. In English 1302, I have improved my analyzing skills, my communication skills, and I am working on correct grammar. I feel that I was able to accomplish this because of my hard work and great feedback that I have received from my classmates. My other important goal I had for myself was to fix all of my grammar errors which have haunted me throughout my entire educational career. I am most certain that I accomplished this goal mostly because of the help of my handbook without it I might have still been lost. I mostly feel proud of how well I did in my narrative essay because that was a first for me and was also the one that stressed me out the most. After completing it I found that it was really not that difficult the basic thing is just to tell a story about yourself and adding sources to provide backup.…
