When Cather wrote O Pioneers, she spent some time analyzing the different viewpoints of readers. These viewpoints include the naturalistic view, the romantic view, and the realistic view. Quite similarly to other things, the three types of people tend to have conflicts. First, some people see something from a romantic perspective. Themes are universal ideas that are explored in literature. Although written in different time periods and in different styles, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, and Sue Monk Kidd’s The Secret Life of Bees share the common theme of love – love of all kinds – the love of people, the love of community, or even the love of ideas. People of all generations and people of all ages deal with the universal idea of love: finding love, the loss of love, the love of family or lack there of, forbidden love, the yearning for love.…

Romanticism vs. Realism Romanticism and Realism are entirely different. Romanticism is a movement that dominated literary, visual, and musical arts. It does not contribute to romance, it's main focus is ¨depicting emotional matter in imaginative form¨. Realism focus on ordinary people and their daily lives rather than supernatural, nationalism, heroism, and strange and faraway places, themes that characteristic the Romanticism literature. Romanticism and Realism are perfectly opposite each other like in ¨Masque of the Red Death¨ by Edgar Allen Poe,which is Romanticism and ¨To Build a Fire¨ by Jack London which is Realism. The main purpose of this essay is to prove the differences between the two gernes by comparing and contrasting the Plot,Characters, and Presentation of good and evil.…

The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass is an astonishing piece of work, and as highly affecting today as it was when it was published in 1845. Almost twenty years prior to the abolition of slavery, Douglass’s voice is one of strength and oratorical confidence. While the work is highly realistic, it is also romantic in nature. I want to show how the Romantic elements serve to create the highest possible effect for abolitionism. Prior to Frederick Douglass’s entrance in to the forum of Abolitionism, it was clearly recognized that blacks needed to speak with their own voices.…

Harper Lee once said “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.” This problem still happens today, everyone judges a person without evening knowing them. When someone judges someone with tattoos and piercings they automatically think he is a bad guy but that isn’t always true. Their point of view can be totally wrong but they would never know. They will never get to truly know the person because their point of view shows them as bad people.…

There is the old saying, “You do not know what someone else is going through, until you have walked in their shoes.” With Cristina Henriquez’s book, “The Book of Unknown Americans,” I felt I was as close to experiencing what the characters were going through without actually being in their shoes. Henriquez did a great job of adding details and twists while getting you emotionally attached to the characters. From the beginning I was drawn to the characters in “The Book of Unknown Americans.”…
