Different Types Of Trebuchets

Decent Essays
There are more than two different types of trebuchets, but I’m only going to talk about two. The first trebuchet that I want to talk about first is the swinging counterweight trebuchet. The swinging counterweight trebuchet is the classic design of trebuchets. The frame of this trebuchet is fixed to the Earth and the counterweight part consists of a basket on the end of the throwing arm. This was how the swinging counterweight trebuchet worked.

The second trebuchet I want to talk about is the floating arm trebuchet. The floating arm trebuchet is basically constrained by a track, and the wheels are on a horizontal track. It shifts to balance the weight. The floating arm design appeared in the late twentieth century.

The entire structure is unique and efficient, and an important component of Dorton Arena is the stability of the roof. The objective of this paper is to address the engineering components of Dorton Arena’s roof that bring the structure to equilibrium. The rest of this paper will focus on the roof’s design, use of tension, attention to displacement of steel, use of guy cables, and integration with the rest of the structure to allow Dorton Arena to find stability in a way that was not previously considered.…
