Skin cancer is the most common cancer of all cancers, it is predicted that one of every three new cases of cancers is skin cancer. There are two types of skin cancer: melanoma and non-melanoma. Melanocytes produce melanin, which is the pigment cells responsible for skin color and also protect the body from ultraviolet rays. When these cells transform into cancerous cells, the result is melanoma. Melanoma is not as common but it is the deadliest and most dangerous type of skin cancer because it spreads rapidly throughout the body. Tens of thousands of people worldwide suffer from melanoma and this staggering number continues to rise rapidly. Non-melanoma skin cancer include basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
