A shop lifter is a person who is trying to steal from a store or not buying an item that cost money. Other forms of shop lifting are burglary, embezzlement, larceny, looting, robbery, fraud, theft by taking, theft by receiving stolen property and identity theft. A difference between shop lifting and robbery, in robbery the stealing takes place along with physical violence and or threats. Although a shop lifting charge is that the person stealing does it in a way to cover that he or she did it. A penalty for a minor shop lift is of 1 year in jail with the fines of $1000.
