This is Antoinette’s favorite place since she was a small kid. Rochester is a little skeptical about the place when he arrives to the “honeymoon house”. A group of African American women is standing at the door waiting for them. At the time, he knew nothing about Antoinette or her “crazy” mother. All the African American women look at him strange. A couple of them look at him with sympathy and others look at him with anger. The “honeymoon house” is a beautiful house in a gorgeous location but it’s old. Christophine is one of the servants who works for Antoinette. Christophine tells Rochester that she feels bad for him and tells him the backstory of Antoinette which she was forbidden to do. Rochester gets drunk and rapes Christophine but Antoinette hears them. Antoinette’s mother was raped and one of her servants is having sex with her husband. Antoinette flips out at Rochester for having sex with her servant, Christophine. Rochester is constantly drinking and tells Antoinette he doesn’t like her name. Since her mother, with the same name, was mentally insane and he didn’t enjoy referring to her name. All these things aggravate her condition. As a normal person, she flips out on him for all the things he has done. She wants him to love her as deeply as she loves him.
