In today’s society, there are many types of families. In my opinion, growing up with both parents in the household is a more successful method of raising a child than a household with just a single parent. Children tend to become more successful adults when they have both parents involved because they are learning from both their mother and the father on a consistent basis. Children with both parents have a better understanding of the world and are able to adjust better to various situations.
I was raised in a household with both of my parents, and I feel that it was very beneficial for my growth and development into a productive member of society. There were plenty of situations that my dad did not know how to handle, that my mom easily helped me with. My dad taught me how a woman should be treated by a man, so that I would know what standards to uphold my future husband to. Having both parents disciplining me when I was a child allowed me to develop into a responsible adult. I have not gotten into any trouble since I have graduated high school and come to college. If I had been brought up in a single-parent household without the discipline that I received, I would most likely be in prison, jobless, or without a college education. Statistically, a child in a single-parent household is far more likely to experience violence, commit suicide, continue a cycle of poverty, become drug dependent, commit a crime or perform below his peers in education.…
