Glow-sticks are a quite interesting and very useful creation. They provide a short-term light source and are self-contained. Since it is self-contained, it does not need an outside energy source to do …show more content…
The levels are 7 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius.
Dependent variable: The dependent variable is the brightness of the glow-stick that was measured in the length of how long the light reflected in inches.
Controlled variables: Glass size, amount of water, type of glow-stick, size of glow-stick, the setting of the glow-stick, how long the glow-stick is placed in the water, how long the glow-stick is handled and shaked and cracked.
Experimental Control Group: The standard of comparison is a glow-stick that is the same type of glow-stick to the others but is not affected by the different water temperatures. The reason for not allowing the glow-stick to be placed in the different water temperatures is because the experiment is testing the glow-sticks at different water temperatures, so it is reasonable to have the standard of comparison to be a glow-stick at the temperature all the other glow sticks have originally started at.
Materials: There are three beakers, water, beaker of ice, a hot plate, three thermometers, three glow sticks, a small plastic ruler, and clear tape.
