There are different types of alternative therapy. Alternative medicine is referred as medical practices or medical products that are not part of a regular care. Regular care it is practiced by real doctors such as medical doctors, physical therapist, allied health professionals and nurses. An example of an alternative medicine is acupuncture, which is based on the insertion of needles into the skin at different points on the body. Based on some investigations, researchers had found that it is one of the most common traditional Chinese alternative medicines around the world. Traditional Chinese medicine characterized acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy. According to several researchers, western practitioners view acupuncture …show more content…
It also depends on the person, some people find this therapy very effective and other people do not. During acupuncture, needles are inserted on the body but especially far from the part that is on pain. Practitioners used up to twenty needles based on the pain and the serious diseases. On a typical treatment the needles stay inserted on the body for ten to twenty minutes. Some people may feel more pain that others while the needles are inserted. Even though there are a lot of people who preferred this therapy compared to a medication by a real doctors, the benefits of this therapy are not noticeable. Several studies show that acupuncture works best on people that expect it to work. There are a lot of people who do not spend their money doing this therapy because they do not believe that this is very effective method. Also, there are some risks for people who practice this therapy, people might have some negative effects such as soreness where they inserted the needles and some people might have bruisers. Also, patients have the risk to have organ injury, when the practitioner inserted the needle to deep or they can have infectious diseases if the needle is not sterilized. It is important that they choose a practitioner that it is certified in order to prevent infectious disease or severe risks. During the last year acupuncture has become very popular and a lot of people believe that it is very helpful for those people who suffer from pain. Also, scientific and some medical professionals are against this alternative medicine because they think that it is magic or it is just a myth. There are several studies that shown that it is very effective with possible results and there are other people that think that it is just something unreal. At this time the only studies that can be used in order to discover the real results from this alternative therapy are scientific studies based on examinations and also peer review journal articles. Based on different researchers and peer-reviewed articles about acupunctures it is known that there is an issue with this alternative medicine. Researches mentioned that acupuncture it is known as a part of medicine but there is not scientific piece. In other words there is not scientific prove that it works effective.
