They believe that brain function play a part in ADD/ADHD. Researchers have found the brain volume of children with ADHD o be three to four percent smaller in the frontal lobes. The frontal lobes is the part of the brain that we use for problem solving, and controlling impulsive. Also, researchers believe that smoking and drinking may cause a child to have ADHD because it causes behaviors in children. There is a theory that watching too much TV can cause ADHD. Research had found a connection, children who watched the most television had a twenty-eight percent higher chance of having later attention problems. Many parent wonder if poor parenting causes ADHD and the answer is no. Food allergies and sugar has been suspected to contributor to the behavior problems associated with ADD/ADHD. They can be treated with inventions, one is behavior modification. Behavior modification is a technique used to redirect the child’s behavior. It has rules, rewards, consequences based on the child compliance. (ASHLEY 19) Everything is gone over with the child and he or she knows what happens when they behave or have behaviors. For example, if the child sits quietly during group reading, that child may earn a sticker for his board. Social skills group is another way to help with the behaviors, if the child goes around others that have the same problems he or she won’t feel as different from the other kids. Another way to prevent a child from the behaviors caused from ADHD is medication. There is stimulants and non- stimulant medications. Stimulants ties to the central nervous stimulant. These type of medicine have increase dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain to improve concentration. Non-stimulants doesn’t have an increase but it does affect the
