As the nation’s population of the elderly continues to grow, public health care social workers will be attuned to their direct care needs as well as their health and social polices developed to address those needs(Jurkowski chapter 5). Although the roles of a School Social worker and a Medical Social worker differ they are also similar. Both social workers are similar in that, they both deal with children and adults who have different disability needs. As stated in the handbook for Public Health Social work, despite the progress and growth in disability rights, persons with disabilities continue to experience ongoing stigma (Jurkowski chapter 9).
