I am an ISTJ with distinct personality strengths and weaknesses. My strengthens are being hardworking, productive, efficient, and driven (Kroeger, Thuesen, & Rutledge, 2002, p. 306). In opposition, being compulsive, inexpressive, and routine are my weaknesses (Kroeger et al, 2002, pp. 308-309). The Prentice Hall Self-Assessment increased awareness of more personality attributes and gave me more insight I need to consider. As a type A personality, I am always on the go and seeking efficiencies in nearly every task, if not attempting to do multiple tasks at once (Robbins & Judge, 2009, p. 114). With high job motivating, I am at the top of my organization able to influence and control the planning and execution of daily events (Robbins & Judge, 2009, p. 220). I am deeply satisfied and enjoy my job, which spills over into a greater life satisfaction. In contrast, a downside is that I find it difficult to enjoy leisure time (Pearson Education, 2016, I.B.2). While I enjoy working in a fast paced and ever-changing organization, I am less tolerant of ambiguous situations (Pearson Education, 2016, I.A.4). My job requires that I help, communicate, and influence others to help them cope with the work demands and stress. Seeking cooperation, developing new skills, and having a greater ability to act and thing independently are important personal motivations (Pearson Education, 2016, I.C.1).
