Narrative Essay About Identity

In my previous essay I wrote this: “All that matters is that one day, after I have finally gotten rid of the mask, I will finally figure out who I am”. Showing that the struggle with the mask has clouded me for so long that it left with an identity crisis. Though the last essay was the one that concentrated on using writing to help yourself, I do wish to continue using that same method and I also wish to mix it with the one for this essay. This essay concentrates on writing about the different voices/parts of yourself that you may have and finding a creative way to use them. Leading to what I am trying to say, which is that I wish to use this essay to examine the voices that I use most in my everyday life (the ones that really represent who …show more content…
This voice was given by the two people I love the most in this life, my parents. One of the reasons I use Spanish more than English is because every time I use it it reminds me of conversations I have with my friends and family (always helping me remember where I came from). Another part of myself that this voice shows me is how patriotic I am. My love for Puerto Rico has caused me to have a short fuse when it comes to situations where someone is speaking ill of my hometown. This voice shows me that I love my country so much that I would do anything for it. Helping me realize that I should have follow a career that I can use to help anyone that needs it in the future. From this voice I also see how I should choose a path that in the future I can use to help me keep my family for as long as I can. From this list of things, we see what one voice can show me, now lets see what two more can help me understand about …show more content…
But after this essay I have managed to figure out both and its all thanks to the analysis of the voices that I feel are key to who I am. Each voice after analyzing contained a piece of a puzzle that is the answer of the two questions I had when I started writing this essay. The Puertorrican voice showed I cared not only about my family, but also about my nation. Showing how in the future, with the skills I have gathered from my successful career, I will do everything in my power to help both. My Scholar voice showed me how I am interested in following a career in Psychology. While finally my irresponsible voice showing me what I need to do to be ready for the real world. Together they show me how I am ready to complete a career in medicine (because I finally know what to actually concentrate on when preparing myself for the future, also because psychology is the career I feel I can follow and because one of the voices shows how my future career will be related to helping people) and how with the skills I learn from my career, I will help anyone I can that needs help. This whole essay might seem like it concentrates more on my future than on who I am, but in this essay for every advice on my future given, a picture of who I am is shown (due to the fact that figuring out one leads to the other). My Puertorrican voice showed me how my career relates to

Identity forms an important part of the tell-tale heart. The identity of the narrator and their perception of self and their own insanity forms part of the short story’s overall charm and mystique. Poe as a writer is very aware of the effect his writing has on readers and purposefully crafts this character along with the character of the old man in order to create an intimate and suspenseful piece of writing. By following his own Gothic manifesto Poe is able to utilise his writing and narration within the story to “then combine(s) such events as may best aid him in establishing this preconceived effect.” (Poe, Review of Hawthorne, 1842)…
