In Madrid, 1936 the Spanish Civil War broke out. The war lasted three years, it caused thousands of deaths and a great impact in Europe. This war was caused by many different factors, some of the most important are: the differences between Nationalists and Republicans, Spain’s corrupt government, and the massacre led by Francisco Franco’s army that helped unify the people. Francisco Franco led this Revolution alongside other Nationalist leaders.

His father worked as an officer in the Spanish Naval Administrative Corps, and his mother was an upper middle-class Roman Catholic who was also conservative. At the age of 14, he entered to an Infantry Academy, and graduated three years later. In 1913 he was promoted to lieutenant in a regiment in Moroccan calvary. In 1915 he became the youngest captain in the Spanish army. Some years later, he became the second in command in the Spanish Foreign Legion and three years later he became the full commander. After rescuing his allies in the “Siege of Alcazar”, he was promoted to “caudillo” He got married to Carmen Polo and they had a daughter. Franco became a hero in Spain for contributing to ending the revolt against the Moroccan rebels. In 1928 he became brigadier general.
Franco was the leader of a military rebellion to bring down Spain's democratic republic in the civil war and established the dictatorship that defined the country for several years. Franco had the ability to command troops and was very professional, he soon gained recognition and reputation for his dedication. Nevertheless, he was considered as a serious and introverted person.
