Compare And Contrast Leonard Lake And Charles Ng

Leonard Lake and Charles Ng have two very different backgrounds, even originating from different countries, but despite that they seemed to develop more and more similarities as they grew older, even before they met.

Lake was born in the city of San Francisco, California on July 20, 1964(Newton, 2006). The exact specifics of Lake 's younger years is debated. Some sources claim him to have been raised entirely by his mother, who is said to have encouraged him to take pride in the human body by taking nude pictures of young women or girls, including his sisters and cousins. Many believe that these pictures are what planted the seeds that grew into Lake 's overwhelming obsession with pornography (Newton, 2006).

Ng seemed to enjoy his time in the Corps, referring to himself as a 'ninja warrior ' and proving himself to be extremely skilled in martial arts (Newton, 2006). As a matter of fact, many of Ng 's fellow Marines took to calling him by the nickname 'Bruce Lee ' and it is possible that he intimidated many of them, as it has been noted that they went out of their way to avoid him (Crime Investigation, 2014).

Ng was arrested in the October of 1979 for leading two comrades of his in stealing over ten thousand dollars worth of automatic weapons from a Hawaiian marine armory. Prior to theand divorced him. He had a short run-in with the law afterwards in 1980 for looting building supplies, but only served one years probation.

By August of 1981 Lake remarried, this time to Claralyn Balasz, and they moved into a Renaissance style commune in Ukiah, California. Shortly after his arrival at the commune Leonard Lake allegedly put an add into a magazine, and met Charles Ng. The two got along very well, and they quickly got into illegal activities

He was born into a wealthy parents, and was brought up by his ruthlessly strict father. Charles Ng had many behavioral problems growing up, and in addition to his penchant for petty crime he was expelled from multiple schools in China. In fact, his father eventually grew so fed up with his son that he shipped him off to an expensive private school in Yorkshire, England where he stayed until he was eighteen. Then Charles Ng returned to Hong Kong briefly in order to apply for and receive a student-visa which would allow him to study in the United States (Crime Investigation, 2014).

Eventually Ng made his way to California, where he managed to enlist in the Marine Corps, despite his not being a legal United States citizen, by incorrectly claiming his birthplace to be Bloomington, Indiana.
