The narrator was shot in his arm he is trying so hard to ignore the pain he is feeling in his arm. Although he has been shot he is still brave enough to keep fighting against his enemy. The narrator continues to fight his enemy until he is able to kill him. He was in a lot of pain “He ground his teeth to overcome the pain” (O’Flaherty 3). The narrator did not want to feel pain anymore, so he would ground his teeth into his jacket he was wearing to overcome the pain for a little bit while he wrapped a ripped piece of shirt around it to stop the bleeding. According to this quote, the narrator is trying to show that he does not want to show his pain when he is stopping his blood from continuing to flow. He had lost a lot of blood but he was still doing what he could do. Although he is showing a lot of pain he is brave enough to fight for what he has to do. He was brave enough to fight for his life. “Pressing his lips together, he took a deep breathe through his nostrils and fired” (O'Flaherty 4). This quote is showing that he was brave enough to fight through the pain he was going through. Even though he couldn’t move his arm as much due to him losing blood he was brave enough to fight. Hermione is brave by having to ignore rumors made about her and having an abortion. The Narrator shows that he is brave by fighting for his life and after he is shot, he still continues to fight. Although the narrator is brave, Hermione best shows she is brave and shows it through what she has to do. Through my own experience of getting stitches, being brave can be shown in different ways but it could be good or bad ways. Hermione being brave helped her become herself again while the narrator was brave helped him finish the war and go home
