A Dog sitting outside in the negative 16 degree wind chill freezing to death with him being skin and bones from not being fed and no water due to it being frozen. This is an example of neglect and cruelty. Animal abuse can take on many other forms.Although an animal death may not always be a result of cruelty or neglect, there are animals harmed due to lack of feeding or for their fur. Animals get abused for different reasons.Experimentation, testing, hunting and dog fighting are many examples of the different types of abuse. . There are many ways and programs to help prevent abuse.
Animals are tested and experimented every minute of the day. “A study in 2008 claimed that 115 million animals were used in laboratory each year, and 670,000 thousands animal were in pain due to testing.”(2011) In 2002 there was a case study in new york. A young veterinary reported that there was abuse in the laboratory that she worked in. It was reported that in the lab that she saw primates were being made to suffer pain. They were

According to Day, “ The Animal welfare act of 1966 was the first U.S legislation to control the use and treatment of laboratory animals.”(1994) Its a good thing that now in the world we not have rights and laws that help protect helpless animals and laboratory animals. A case study in 2006 said that 800 people marched because of a new pressure group. People say that it is basically a prison for animals They are a lot of test that scientist do that are unnecessary and cruel. For example, According to Day, “ animal rights activist say that the rabbit eye irritancy test is cruel and unnecessary.”(1994) It seems like in the rabbit eye test it just another way to hurt the rabbit.
