This essay will compare and contrast two different care professions of my choice. The first I have chosen to discuss will be a Nurse, as this is the profession that I am currently studying towards. The other care profession I have chosen to compare and contrast will be a social worker, as I have an interest in this career. Included in this essay are the similarities, as well as the differences on what is expected from both professions to stay practising in your post and to maintain a high standard of care.
There are many routes to go down to achieve a degree in nursing. Nursing courses combine academic study with practice learning, with time split between the university or college and practical placements in a selection of NHS nursing settings. It will usually depend on which nursing field chosen when deciding on the placement the student will be put to. Students can work from an open university also. (Nursing.nhscareers.nhs.uk, 2016)
With the relevant higher in the relevant subjects or HNC in healthcare, the most common way for achieving this is by going to university and studying for 3 years in the specific field of nursing that is of interest. Both must continue learning through out their career and have similar steps to take to continue professional development. Also both professionals have similar conducts, responsibilities and accountabilities to maintain the highest standard of care to the patients and service users that are in the care of the employees organisation. Employers to these professions also have the same responsibilities to ensure that staff are keeping up to their roles in the health and social care
