Differences: Similarities Between Psychopath And Sociopath

Psychopath and Sociopath Psychopaths and sociopaths have a few similarities, but altogether are quite different. Psychiatrists tend to treat both of these disorders the same while criminologists treat them differently because of the difference in their outward behavior. Both have anti-social personalities and usually commit crime with revenge or greed as their underlining motivation (Lewis). Symptoms for both, typically begin to appear within fifteen years of age (Nikhilesh). With proper medication, they can be treated or alleviated (Nikhilesh). Psychopathy is when the cause leans towards hereditary, and sociopathy is when antisocial behavior stems from the persons’ upbringing or belief system. Psychopaths behaviors are normally very controlled; their predisposition to violence is high, and they are typically unable to maintain normal or functional relationships. Psychopaths are not crazy or insane, contrary to what society proclaims. They are very held together; having complete control over their actions. Even though they are unable to experience emotions, they thoroughly understand them because they study them. They are meticulous in planning crimes; going years undetected.
