On November 6, 1869 Rutgers and Princeton played what was supposedly called the first College football game. In the 1880’s a player from Yale changed the rules and officially made it American Football.
People like the game of football because of these five reasons:
1.Violence- People like the violence of football because they like to see big hits. People say they like the violence because when people hit each other very hard, bodies go flying everywhere. They also say that who doesn't like to see a bunch of people running around trying to score a touchdown, and games that have exciting endings with blocked field goals and last minute interceptions returned for a touchdown.
2.Gambling- Some people don’t gamble a lot on football but a lot of

Hundreds of millions of people tune into watch the Super Bowl every year. It is where the final two teams in the NFL(National Football League) play each other in the final game of the year. 5.Athleticism- People like to watch a bunch of people run around and test the human performance. 350 pound men should not be able to run faster than the average human can. Catching a football while getting hit by someone is fun to watch for most people.
The rules of football can be simple and complex. Here are some of the basics of football: The football field is 120 yards long and 53 and a half yards wide. At each end of the field and 100 yards are the goal lines. The additional 10 yards is called the endzones. The field is divided up by 5 yard lines. The middle line of the field is called the 50 yard line. Normally the 50 yard line has a teams logo on the center of it. Each team has 4 downs to gain 10 yards. If the team does not complete to get 10 yards then it is a turnover and it becomes the other teams ball. Each game is separated into 4 different quarters. With 15 minutes in each
