Unlike Goodman, I am not afraid of SUVs. I have drove and been a passenger in many different vehicles. I have never been in a car accident my entire life. When I am either driving or walking as a pedestrian the vehicles that scare me the most are sport cars, trucks, and semi-trucks. I am afraid of sports cars because of how fast they are capable of going and in my experience people who drive them tend to go too fast and make reckless sharp turns as the vehicle allows them. I am often having to look out for sport cars because they often come in at high speeds and make sudden lane-changes and turns. There are many models of trucks that I see as being too big as in example most trucks with double back tires, lifted trucks, and trucks equivalent to or bigger than a Ford F-250. I try to be very aware of trucks as they have capability of driving over small cars, running over people unlike cars where someone would usually just fly forward or go over the windshield or even bounce off if hit. This very thing happened to one of my old coaches. She was riding her bike in the bike lane when a man accidentally hit her with his large pick-up truck going between 25-35 MPH. On contact she got sucked up under his truck and was beat around between beneath his truck and the hard asphalt before she was thrown out. She ended up in critical condition because of the accident, where if she was instead hit by a car or SUV she could’ve just bounced off at that speed and wouldn’t have had to face the fear of nearly dying. I am mindful of semi-trucks just because of how big they are and how it is much harder to maneuver them. They have huge blind spots, take wide turns that take up multiple lanes occasionally, and are carrying varying heavy loads. I have experience of being in an unexpected situation with a semi when the wheel of a semi-truck exploding right next to me as I was driving past it on the highway. I was
