One scene where this is portrayed is when Queen Gorgo is asking Theron for help winning the vote to send troops to support Leonidas. During this dialogue he responds saying, “Do not think that you, a woman, can walk into the council chamber and sway the minds of men.” This clearly shows that while woman were regarded as equals in many of the basic rights as men they were not listened to with the same levels of respect. In addition to this part of the dialogue, later on in the same conversation the Queen cheats on Leonidas with Theron. This same theme of cheating on spouses was also seen in the movie Troy. In the movie Troy, the theme of cheating was also present amongst the women. The main plot to this movie is that Helen was married to King Menelaus. During the movie Paris meets with Helen and then there is a love scene. After this cheating has occurred Helen leaves Laconia with Paris to go to Troy with him.
