She witnessed the struggles of her peers, especially the violence between the different social class gangs, in school and began to write about them. The Outsiders began as a simple short story and quickly flourished into a novel due to Hinton’s irate state of mind regarding her own life. Her writing became a way to cope and work through her feelings about the violent situations surrounding her life.…

The next difference from the beginning of the story was when Cherry asked Pony to go with her to buy some popcorn and drinks for the rest as in Johnny, Marcie, and the other two socs which also was a difference because those socs didn’t appear to talk to Cherry and Marcie. Next difference was inside the store to buy snacks and drinks there was happing an argument which wasn’t in the book as well. Third, difference was when Pony and Johnny were leaving to take Johnny to his house and both of them saw Johnny’s parents arguing. In The Hunger Games people within the capitol will watch the games as a form of entertainment, and then the gamemakers will begin to makes things appear in the games to deliberately makes things appear that will hurt the people in the games to make more entertainment for the people watching. Then on the other hand there is the violence that is within The Outsiders that is nowhere close to the violence in The Hunger Games and therefore making it relatable. Violence within The Outsiders is relatable because it is basically just two groups fighting to solve whatever problems they may be having, in this case one gang outranking the other. Nonetheless, something that makes a successful young adult novel is how it represents the violence and the fighting that is within. Ultimately, the violence has to be seen as something relatable so it does not seem like something someone could not see themselves doing.…

I think the book was bad because it did not give the effects that the movie did. I liked the movie because it had more of the story put into it detail wise. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the movie was more effective in telling the story.…

In conclusion, The Outsiders and its book version were apart in many ways. Although the movie got many plot elements from the original book correct, the differences were more prevalent than the similarities. These differences included deleted scenes, added scenes and different character descriptions. The movie was great to watch, although reading the book beforehand would make the plot much easier to understand because the movie keeps the backstory vague. The movie got many things right, but the minor errors and differences really pop out to the careful viewer, leaving a positive or negative feeling in their…
