The differences between the House of Representatives and the Senate are many. First, the Senate is much smaller than the House. There are 100 seats in the Senate and 435 seats in the House. Two Senators will represent each state in the Senate while one representative from each congressional district, with the number of districts in a state being determined by population, will represent the House. The House mainly initiates all revenue based legislation while the Senate has the power to approve foreign treaties and cabinet and judicial nominations.
