The movie, unlike the book, entices the viewer to continue watching their film. A book can’t really do that unless the book is very interesting. Why do all of the characters act the same in the movie and the book? My answer is that the director wanted the movie to be as realistic and clear as possible. He added some scenes that changed what we thought of the book. We always thought that George never liked Curley’s wife, but the director of the movie chose to implement a scene that would change that. The scene in the movie is when George and Lennie are in the barn giving a horse to Crooks when Curley’s Wife comes in and starts talking to them. She says how she has nothing to do because Curley is mean to her and that it was a mistake to marry him. This changes how George looks at Curley’s wife but the movie does not really show that. The movie and the book relate in every way. Both the movie and the book all make Lennie look like the main character at the same exact time. The movie though didn’t really get as much of a praise as the novella did. The movie wasn’t very interesting as a movie should be. The novella was perfect though. Overall both the book and the movie are a very good interpretation of what the American Dream should be. The movie shows how working hard to get what you want sometimes succeeds but also may fail because of problems that occur trying to get your American Dream.
