Almost every person has or has used a cell phone. Cell phone usage has grown over the past decade tremendously. Texting has also exceeded all forms of communication including emails, phone calls, and letters. It has become the primary way for high school students and college students to communicate to others. Text messaging could be replacing face-to-face conversations for teens. It has become normal for teens to spend majority of their time texting. The researchers wanted to look into texting and how that is related to satisfaction in the relationships. The findings concluded that there was a negative relationship with male texting and satisfaction in the relationship. This is opposite of what was found with females who showed a positive relationship with female texting and satisfaction with their significant others. This could indicate that whenever there is a strain on the relationship, men take to texting women rather than talking face-to-face about difficult and sensitive topics. The use of texting to show love and appreciation was linked to higher attachment for their significant others for both males and females. Using text messaging to send hurtful messages to their significant others was negatively related to relationship satisfaction. This could potentially be harmful for men since males refer to sending text messages whenever they are talking about more sensitive and difficult information. Women are more emotional and are more likely to get their feelings hurt and if men refer to only texting in those situations, it is likely that more arguments are likely to
