Q1. List several similarities and differences between the movie and the original story. The story and the movie are vastly different and very little was kept from the story. The main similarity between the movie and the story is the fact that the main antagonist is Set. In the Movie and the original Osiris is killed off at the start but in the original, he is brought back. In the movie after Osiris is killed by Set he remains dead. Set then takes both of Horus’ eyes. From here Set eventually seeks to gain power and control over basically everything and eventually deciding to destroy the world by releasing a demon. People could better relate to the gods if they look more like humans and even act more like humans. When people watch movies, they tend to enjoy the movie better if they can relate with some of the characters. Relating with characters helps to immerse the audience in the movie and become more interesting in what is actually happening. People need to be able to put themselves into the shoes of someone in the movie. These changes make the movie more relatable to a modern audience who most likely do not have the same understanding of the gods that the ancient Egyptians had. Things like romance scenes become much more relatable to a modern audience when the gods are made to appear as humans. These changes are more about turning the ancient myth into an actual story as opposed to an actual religious myth.
