Comparison: Traditional Campuses Vs. Online Classes

In more recent years there has been an abundance of controversy between the matters of traditional on campus classes and online classes in the field of higher education. While there are people who lean to one side or the other, ultimately, it all boils down to a matter of facts and opinions. Whether these facts or opinions prove one class style superior to the other or not, each one has made its way in the realm of education for a purpose. Take for example, the fact that having classes online cuts costs and makes it far more convenient and comfortable for both professor and student. Providing these classes saves a tremendous amount of money for not only the student but also for the college as well. These financial savings occur because online classes reduce or eliminate most text book costs as well as help institutions save money on utilities and maintenance. Along with saving financially, these classes also offer additional convenience for the student as well as comfort. For instance, since courses are online it allows the student to better fit them into their busy life schedules. Moreover, it lets the student pick the environment they wish to study or work in that they focus best in and that will promote maximum learning efficiency. Other differences in online classes include the fact that they can teach certain skills that some on campus classes do not instill in students that are very useful in real life. Ultimately, the skills that these online courses teach pushes the student to learn how to be self-taught. For starters, these classes encourage problem solving thinking as well as requiring them to learn technology friendly skills. Even though on campus classes may sometimes teach more, it also may be less convenient for the people enrolled in or teaching the courses. Also, with online courses, they usually promote different learning skills, but also provide an environment with a lot less accountability. Despite these differences, both class modes are beneficial in their own ways. Together, they manage to broaden the education spectrum for students. Altogether, with the mixture of both kinds of college courses, the college learning process has been dramatically altered to better suit the needs of the students and professors on and off
