Differences Between Kite Runner Movie And Book

Improved Essays
The story of the kite runner starts off as the main character in America talking to a person he knew as a little kid in Afghanistan. Both the movie and the book show this, but the movie itself has this scene longer as the man is shown with a wife and a new published book then gets a call. The book just starts off as the man talking over the phone then the flash back happens to show the past and even that has events scattered (jumbled) around where the book had events a, b and c but the movie has b, c, a and e. The movie skips event d because in the book it talks of Baba’s leg and how it is twisted, making it so the man cannot walk right. The movie does not show him having any problems with his leg. Baba’s son Hassan is said to have a cleft

The movie To Kill a Mockingbird, based on the novel written by Harper Lee showed the life of a child during the Great Depression and captured the theme of innocence taken away by evil. In most cases the book is always better than the film because life lessons are taken away in greater detail and are much easier to apply to a reader's life. Many movies stray from the book as did To Kill a Mockingbird, but also captured the scenes not shown in the book. Unlike the book, the movie had taken away the relationship that Boo Radley had with the children. One part of the book which was not shown in the movie was Mrs. Maudie's house fire when Boo Radley had draped a blanket over Scout’s shoulders while Jem and Scout were standing in the cold.…

As the author of the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Ken Kesey did not approve of the film that was later produced in honor of his piece of writing. There is an ongoing debate over whether the movie, or the novel, was a better piece of art. In the novel, Chief serves as the narrator, which allows the reader to get into the heads of the patients in the institution, and better understand their perception of what is going on in the ward. In the movie, you are better able to experience what is actually going on in the ward, and the motives of the patients, such as McMurphy. The difference between the characterization in the movie version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest allows the audience to achieve a more realistic understanding of…

The scenes that are missing are important scenes in the book because they show the intensity of the relationship between the characters. For example by not accurately portraying the rape scene or giving enough detail of Baba’s relationship with Hassan or presenting the fierceness of Amir’s fight with Assef, the viewer does not get to understand the dimensions of the relationship between each of the characters. Some movies made from books do a good job of faithfully retelling the story the author writes but this is not the case with The Kite Runner…
