Herman Boone was a very tough
coach and pushed every person to their limit to be the best and the strongest, he showed them who
was boss and running the show, he was a winner and he wanted his team to be the best after they
came back from Gettysburg.
Once they got back it wasn’t all smooth sailing, a lot of people disagreed with the change of schools
and people call the black people a cheat. The boys from camp accepted one another but the parents
did not see that. The team was a family because they realised that they were no different to one
another. The family’s had a lot to say about them bonding together and once they started playing for
one another they started to realise that they are playing as a team and looking after one another,
the coach was a victim for a long time, they thought he would play the black kids before the white
kids and why should he get to do it but he was never racist to people, he treated everyone as an
