The Native Americans were better off before European contact because the Europeans destroyed their land, brought diseases, and forced them onto reservations. One reason why the Native Americans were better off before the Europeans is because the Europeans destroyed their homes. When they came, they wanted to take over their land, and then farm from it, mine from it, and then build on it. The Native Americans built very weird homes. Compared to our homes today, their homes were built out of, basically everything around them.
