The Abrahamic religions— Christianity, Judaism and Islam— have been at odds for most of their existence: from the Crusades, to the Holocaust, to the recent Iraq War. That’s why it was rather surprising to see the respect given to Christianity and Judaism in the Qur’an.
When most people look at the Middle East today, it seems like a conflict that’s intertwined with religious tension: the Christian-based Western coalition allied with the Jewish Israeli state facing off against Islamic states and extremist groups. That being said, the Muslims of the Middle East, don’t have as much of a problem with Judaism and Christianity as with the actions of the countries that practice those religions.
