In Siberia,it many believed that there was a god named Tuli. Tuli had a giant sled driven by dogs that the Earth was on. The dogs would scratch at the fleas and the shaking would then jostle the sled with the earth. In Norse mythology, the source of earthquakes to be Loki, the god of mischief. Loki killed another god, Balder the god of light. His punishment was to bonded and placed beneath a snake that would then drip venom onto him. To ease Loki’s pain, Sigyn placed a bowl to collect the poison. The bowl would fill up and Sigyn would need to empty it. When the bowl was gone the snake would continue to drip it’s venom and cause Loki to struggle against his bounds. The struggling would then cause the Earth to shake because of how strong he was. This story was used more for lesson and an explanation.
