In this essay I will be portraying the similarities and differences the two myths Quetzalcoatl and Sundiata. They both are similar in some way you will learn while i explain both of these stories. I will be explaining Both similar heroic traits of the two stories, the nature and causes of conflict, and how they both left their people with hope at the end of their stories. In this paragraph I will be explaining the similar heroic traits. Quetzalcoatl rules the land and tells the people they should always be working. “ he taught then how to fashion gold and silver and precious stones into beautiful vessels and ornaments and how to make marvelous many-tinted garments and hangings from the feathers of birds.” (Amy Cruse p.1087).
Sundiata's heroic traits is that he has super strength. “ In a great effort he straightened up and was on his feet in one go but, the great bar of iron was twisted and taken the form of a bow.” (G.D Pickett p.1084). The cause of conflict in Quetzalcoatl is that tezcatlipoca the chief of these gods, came and gave quetzalcoatl wine and got him drunk. Then he destroyed everything, embarrassed quetzalcoatl so he left. The people of his land believe that when cortez arrived it was quetzalcoatl. In sundiata, the conflict is that sundiata is not able to walk and the people of his land picked on him. He can not stand up and grab the tree for his mother, she plans to have him killed. Sundiata eventually escapes and finds refugee with the king of Mema. The people beg for his return. He eventually did and ruled over the land and made it
