In both versions of Cinderella, Cinderella’s father is portrayed as a rich man that re-marries. This is showed when he gives her everything she wants. Also, he remarries a woman with two selfish daughters. However, there are some main differences between the two characters that play the father. In Grimm’s Cinderella, her father never dies. He lives with Cinderella and the step-family. He is rude to Cinderella and treats her the same way her step-mother and step-sisters treat her, which is unfairly. I learned that the world has changed a lot between the writings of Grimm’s Cinderella and Disney’s Cinderella. In Grimm’s time, people were taught lessons through fear. It was a very harsh time for America, which is why the story was written in a harsh way. While during Disney's time, people were taught lessons through good and happy times. By the time Disney’s Cinderella was written, America had gotten a face lift. They were altogether in a more happy state of mind, which helped the story be written in a more happy way.
