Differences And Characters: The Oprah Winfrey And Ellen Degeneres

Everybody in America watches their favorite talk show hosts. For some viewers may perhaps watch “The Oprah Winfrey Show” or “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”. Both Winfrey and DeGeneres have many similarities and differences, for example; they have different life stories and their personality as talk shows hosts are very much different. The similarities for Winfrey and DeGeneres are actresses and make donations to various charities.
Oprah Winfrey is known as one the most successful talk show host in television. Her life experience proves that she can achieve her goals and become a talented, independent woman. She started off her career as a comedienne in the early 1980s. DeGeneres made her first guest appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. DeGeneres became the first female comedienne requested by the host to join in for the discussion on the show. DeGeneres got her own television sitcom called “Ellen” in 1994 through 1998. After the four seasons of Ellen, the show was canceled. Ellen DeGeneres published her first comic book “My Point…and I Do Have One” in 1996. In addition to her success as a television personality and comedienne, DeGeneres published her second book titled “The Funny Thing is...” and her third book, titled “Seriously… I’m Kidding”. “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” debuted in 2003 as a syndicated daytime talk show. Over four million viewers tuned into the show each day as a show record high in daytime television. In Brooks Barnes’ article in The New York Times, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has been through its eleventh season and been renewed through 2017. Right away Ellen’s career in daytime television was starting off great, DeGeneres pulled major advertising partnerships, for example; Burt’s Bee, Walgreens, Target, Band-Aid, and Best Buy. In a show segment on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” DeGeneres revealed that she will be the spokeswoman of Cover Girl Cosmetics at the age of 55. The article further states, “The sales at Cover Girl increased as she advertises for a new foundation that appeared on the show” (Barnes). DeGeneres became the voice-over of the popular animated movie “Finding Nemo” as Dory. The people of America probably did not recognize Ellen’s voice as she plays Dory in “Finding
