Both civilizations were great warriors. While the Aztec’s had one big empire; the Inca had their empire split into four sections each with its own governor from the royal family. The Aztec’s ruled by a monarch and didn’t have the best control over their conquered peoples. The Aztecs used their conquered peoples as slaves; however, the slave’s children were free peoples. The Incan’s were a much tighter stricter government. The Incan’s did not practice slavery but, expected their people to each carry his or her own weight. The Aztec consisted of craftsman, artist and merchants whereas, most Incan’s were farmers or of noble means. Both the Aztec and Incan were ruled by noble or royal families and when one died the next was chosen from the royal family. The women didn’t have much right in either civilization; they bore the children, tended to household chores such as grinding maize, spinning, weaving cotton, and crops; while the men trained to be great warriors. The Aztec’s engaged in long distance trade using their agriculture to barter for other items; and the Incan’s agriculture was redistributed by their government, however, the mountainous range made it impossible to engage in long distance trade. Both civilizations had tributes; but the Aztecs had more than the Incan’s. Neither had large animals to domesticate, but families of both civilizations lived in groups called calpullis. Both civilizations built roads. The Aztecs did develop their own writing system were the Incans did not. A Spaniard named Cortés came looking for gold and power when he came across the Tlaxcalans who hated the Aztecs; the Tlaxcalans allied with Cortés and his men to defeat Moctezuma the Aztec ruler. Moctezuma sent noble men to meet Cortés and his men with golden banners of precious feathers and golden necklaces. The Spaniards marched to the palace and with great force conquered it taking Moctezuma captive, eventually killing him. Not only did the Spaniards bring horses and dogs, but, they brought disease such as smallpox. Smallpox was a sickness of pustules spreading all over
